A Public Health Nurse is focused on protecting the health of the population, working on the prevention of illnesses and infectious diseases as well as promoting healthy behaviors to all in their communities.
The Public Health Nursing Department at MCRHC No. 1 is involved in:
a) Vaccination clinics
b) Utilization of the state's databases for recording of childhood vaccines (NJIIS)
c) New Jersey School immunization audits for compliance
d) Health Promotion and Nursing Education
e) Case management for Childhood Lead Poisoning
f) Case management for Tuberculosis Direct Observational Therapy (DOT)
g) The Communicable Disease Investigation team and the New Jersey Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) Team.
Ammar has a passion for disease control and management, population health awareness and education. His responsibilities range from responding to communicable disease outbreaks, nursing case management, and vaccination administration to implementing change through education. His education consists of a degree in Biological Sciences from New Jersey City University, and a Nursing degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University School of Nursing. Ammar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his position at MCRHC No. 1.
