About Our Community Services

The Monmouth County Regional Health Commission No. 1 (MCRHC) provides public health services to twelve towns in Monmouth County.

Our overall concern and focus is to protect the health of all communities we serve. That’s why it is written in our mission statement that MCRHC will

1) Prevent or reduce disease or injury,

2) Promote healthier choices and assure access to care through collaboration, and

3) Prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.

MCRHC provides public health and environmental health services as mandated by the State Department of Health. MCRHC enforces the New Jersey State Sanitary Code, State laws and regulations, and ordinances established by the MCRHC Board of Commissioners. By the nature of our activities and business, the MCRHC interacts with a wide variety of other governmental agencies, elected officials, organizations, community groups and individual citizens.

MCRHC provides free and/or low-cost services including immunizations and communicable disease testing and treatment. Our communicable disease team, including the public health nurse, investigates the sources of disease outbreaks and works to reduce and stop them from spreading; and the Registered Environmental Health Specialists ensure safe food, water and pools in all the communities we serve.

MCRHC also serves as a resource for the delivery of health education and programming. We promote healthy behaviors such as engaging in regular physical activity, eating healthy foods, and refraining from tobacco use, to reduce the likelihood of developing a chronic disease. Additionally, we work with partners in the county and state to ensure safe bathing at beaches and to investigate and remediate lead poisonings.
